Paint Color Inspiration Is Everywhere!

Don’t know where to begin? The inspiration for how to  pull your color story together can be found in all the things you love… You can find color inspiration literally everywhere you look. When you pay attention to the surroundings in your everyday life and travels, inspiration is everywhere. Take a look and you can see beautiful combinations of colors that you may not have imagined putting together.

These are just a few of the places to find color inspiration in your world. You can literally find exactly the colors that make you the happiest from all around you. It doesn’t have to be difficult to choose a wall color direction when you have so much to draw from. I use these practices all the time when I begin a new project for myself or for clients.

food Inspiration!

Notice your lunch the next time you meet a friend or colleague for a quick bite. Look at how the presentation of your salad or dinner plate is arranged. I’ll bet you you’ll see specific colors placed together in a creative and imaginative way.

Nature Inspiration!

Notice, when you’re out in nature, the exquisite colors all around you. Take it all in because nature is where all the colors, textures and most pleasing combinations are. The way the sun shines on a leaf or the way so many creatures contrast the sea of green. It’s all inspiration!

Travel Inspiration!

Maybe you’re planning a family vacation or romantic second honeymoon. Notice all the colors and textures as you travel. I’ll bet you’ll see some incredible combinations that you would have never thought of before. Take many pictures. Collect objects that bring you inspiration. You’ll be surprised what you’re drawn to.

Fashion Inspiration!

Even the cloths you wear are clues to what you love in color and that can absolutely be transferred to picking the perfect wall color. Just open your closet and take a look at the cloths hanging. Notice the colors that you wear often  and how they make you feel. I’ll bet you have a few favorites that just feel right. That is a color cue and that can be a cue to picking the perfect color combination for any room.

Art Inspiration!

Your favorite piece of art is another way to bring in color inspiration. When you look at your favorite pieces, notice the dominate colors that comprise the background. Then notice the colors that make up the highlights or bring the attention to certain areas. You can use this same composition to paint your space.
