Eclectic

Eclectic interior design takes influence from a number of different historical periods.  Instead of using the furniture and décor to define the space, the use of texture, color, shape and finish set the stage for an eclectic space.

There may be hints of traditional, modern or transitional here but the impact is created with juxtaposing a variety of different textures and finishes to achieve a “collected” look. In order to unify the space, the replication of colors, complimenting textures or patterns are brought in to add definition.

Many times the main pieces in an eclectic room are grounded in neutrals and it’s not uncommon to see vastly different textures, embellishments like fringe, contrasting welt fabric or painted and/ or distressed finishes featured.

You may see high contrast in wall colors, and furnishings that add to the visual impact and dynamism of this style.
