Coastal

Coastal Interior design is casual and comfortable at its core. Simplicity in the choice of fabrics reigns supreme and the lack of anything too “fussy” is where its at with this style. Coastal also takes its cues from nature by brining indoors the influences of the sky, sea, and sand.

Nautical influences and the colors of the sky, water, sand and sun add to the seaside feel. Natural fibers, like cotton and linen further enhance the organic simplicity.

There is a definite approachable comfort to coastal design. Oversized sofas, cushy accent chairs and well worn, textural accent furniture invites you to curl up and listen to the waves break on the shore, even if you’re miles away from the water!

There is very little use of dark fabrics in coastal design and window treatments are simple, airy and sheer.

Painted, white washed woods or lite and bleached wood tones provide definition and contrast to the whites and neutrals.

Accessories are typically influenced by organic elements like shells, sand, drift wood, tumbled glass or nautical items like boat motifs, ropes, and sailing paraphernalia.
